[ Interview with thateguhate Dave ]

Dfined: Hey Dave, so tell us about yourself?

David Seck: Well, theres not much to say.. I’m just the average guy who works a 9-5 and spends most free time either with family or the car haha.

Dfined: What or who you inspired to mod your ride?

David Seck: Getting my CRX as a first car I had no Idea what I was getting into. I was online one day and came across a forum called civicland.com, and from there it was like a light went off in my head. I read all the endless possibilities of modifying and researched where it all started to snowball from there.

Dfined: How long have you been in the scene for?

David Seck: Its been about 7 Years now, And I’m on my 3rd project. All of which were of the Civic family. I’m almost positive not much will change either going into the future.

Dfined: Why did you choose the Civic to mod over any other car ? As we all know there’s a lot of choices out there..

David Seck: It all goes back to wanting a reliable car, with great gas mileage… But all in all I’d be lying if I said this is why I do what I do. Really there is such a huge market out there for my chassis, and I have so many choices and routes to take that it’s hard for two people to build the same car. Which is what tends to happen with some makes and models out there with the limited production of aftermarket parts available.

Dfined: Are you more a show or go person or both and why?

David Seck: I am, I cant lie.. Everyone around me knows I’m more of a hard parker now. However I do daily drive the car and my ride home from work is far from the normal sometimes. I like to have fun, but at the same time I don’t like to constantly beat on my car to a point where I’m on my 2nd or 3rd set of axles because I haven’t reached that time in the quarter mile. I get the itch to go every now and then but I can’t let my pocket get the best of me.

Dfined: What sets your car different from others in the bay?

David Seck: The game is thick.. There’s a lot of people out there that have already set the bar very high.. My only answer for this is taking what resources I have and doing the best job that I possibly can with it… I haven’t done anything to set myself apart from the rest, But I do the best to my ability In keeping a car that’s clean, well rounded and overall as functional as the day it left the dealers lot.

Dfined: Is this car your daily driver? Why?

David Seck: Yes it is my daily driver, and I have no real explanation other than to say if It wasn’t my daily driver there would be no point in modifying it at all. I’m almost 28 years old, so I might as well enjoy it while I’m still here.

Dfined: What feature would you say cost the most on your car?

David Seck: Without a doubt in mind I would have to say it’s the motor, I wont say the actual amount. However I will say that it cost more than what I even bought the car for 5 years ago. Its almost heart wrenching to think of it this way, but yes its true.

Dfined: What accomplishments have you made so far?

David Seck: First and foremost would be self satisfaction, and of course this article. Its fair to say that there’s a lot of people out there that keep me motivated, such as the guys I talk to on all the car forums, and even showing up to meets and seeing everyone. All this is what makes it worthwhile, whether I take home an award or not.

Dfined: Who is your favorite import model out there and why?

David Seck: Misa Campo, Why you ask? Because she’s freakin’ hot! What else can I say?

Dfined: What are the forums you go on the most?

David Seck: In no special order you can usually find me on www.norcaltuners.com, www.nwp4life.com, and occasionally www.honda-tech.com

Dfined: Have you never had the thought of joining a crew?

David Seck: The opportunities have risen over time, I have been in one team in the past but we all separated due to sharing many differences. I see it like this… If your able to all work together as one big family and make it work, with or without conflict… That’s what makes a team. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Dfined: How did you hear about Dfined?

David Seck: I’ve heard about Dfined through Norcaltuners.com, as well as seeing the coverage from various events, and features online.

Dfined: What do you think about Dfined?

David Seck: I think Dfined is a great place to bring many aspects of the community together, whether it be the clubbing, or events like car shows. The pictures and articles are always up to speed, and on point. I was out of town for the pillow fight, so it was nice to be able to catch up on that and see what happened! LOL!

Dfined: Any last shout outs?

David Seck: Yeah, I’d like to thank dfined group for giving me the opportunity to speak a little bit about myself and my project, Tom Nguyen of Dfined for the pictures, Joel Alvarez @ Import Trix, Jeremy Duarte of Redzone Performance, Chase of Chasebays, and all the guys at Norcaltuners.com, NWP4LIFE.com, and EJ1ownersclub.com
