JDM Functions with Jay

[ Interview with Evo8 Driver Jay ]

Dfined: So Jay tell us about yourself?

Evo8 Jay: My name is Jay Altamirano and im 21 years old, living in San Jose, CA. I got my High School diploma at Silver Creek High School back in 2005, but now Im currently trying to complete my Nursing major at Evergreen Valley College.

Dfined: How where you inspired to mod your ride?

Evo8 Jay: You know what i dont really know? i guess my friends got me into modding my car. I cant seem to leave most of my cars in stock form, in my own honest opinion it just doesnt look right. lol

Dfined: How long have you been in the scene for?

Evo8 Jay: I liked cars ever since i was 13 years old, but ive been showing my car to local meets for well over 2 and half years and modding since 3rd year of High School.

Dfined: Why did you choose the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo8 over any other car?

Evo8 Jay: Before i was planning on trading my other car into a new 2005 BMW M3, but i figured the choice of aftermarket euro parts would not be as broad as the japanese aftermarket parts so i chose to trade my old car into a new 2004 Evolution and im happy with it so far.

Dfined: Are you more a show or go person or both and why?

Evo8 Jay: Im more of a show and go person, but the various California laws is making it difficult for me to mod the car with a turbo kit, stroker kit, intake, aftermarket front mount, and etc. so unfortunately the car is a little more of show than go right now.

Dfined: What sets your car different from others?

Evo8 Jay: I believe my car is different from other evo’s out in the bay area because most of the evo’s i see arent fully cage and have a full aftermarket seats in their interior. Most of all, they all rock the same offset and style of wheels! =)

Dfined: Is this car your daily driver? Why?

Evo8 Jay: Yes! my car is a daily driver and im proud of it being my daily. I believe that if you build a car that becomes your pride and joy, it better be your daily driver! It would be a complete waste if it was a garage queen. I admit my car was a garage queen back when it was stock because i use to just carpool with my neighbor in High School..but all of that is history lol!

Dfined: What feature would you say cost the most on your car?

Evo8 Jay: I dont really know.. ive spent too much money i dont even know which cost more on my car. You decide! =)

Dfined: What accomplishments have you made so far?

Evo8 Jay: Ive won a couple awards/trophies at a local JDM Theory car shows but i havent really participated in HIN or anything big. Back in 2006 i received a STANCE suspension sponsorship but i didnt care too much about sponsorship i just wanted to try and see if my car was able to receive some. Im not really trying to make my car as a part of my career and fame, i built my car for my own taste and not others. A magazine feature would be nice.

Dfined: Who is your favorite import model out there?

Evo8 Jay: Justene Jaro!!!1 she’s amazing.

Dfined: What car club/crew are you on?

Evo8 Jay: Currently im representing Renegades!!!

Dfined: Is there a website for your car club/crew?

Evo8 Jay: No there isnt a website for Renegades, but we do have a MySpace! [[[myspace.com/renegades4u]]]

Dfined: How did you hear about Dfined?

Evo8 Jay: I heard about dfined from Chris Ho and Jerry Rodrigo

Dfined: What do you think about Dfined?

Evo8 Jay: I think theyre a bunch of fags! hahahah jk theyre ALL GREAT PEOPLE!!! say wassup to them they wont bite, unless you try to =)

Dfined: Any last shout outs?

Evo8 Jay: I would like to make a shout out to my friends Devin & Cal at Speed Element and JT at EIP racing and my people in Renegades Car Crew…. breakin necks since oh-seven!
